# Virtual Airlines Dispatch

> Build and book a Virtual Airlines operation.

# Dispatch

Use VA Dispatch to turn an airline opportunity, event, charter, or tour leg into a bookable flight. Dispatch guides you through the operation type, airline, route, aircraft, and payload before placing the flight in [My Flights](./my-flights).

Dispatch is also the commercial checkpoint before the flight. The quote combines finite market demand, the airline's price and reputation, service frequency, aircraft capacity, condition, and weight limits. It is not the same thing as the aircraft's maximum seats or cargo weight.

## Operation types

Depending on the source, Dispatch can offer:

* Scheduled passenger
* Scheduled cargo
* Free Flight passenger
* Free Flight cargo
* VIP
* Event flights
* Charter missions
* Tour legs

The source may lock some choices. For example, an event or tour leg can lock the airline and route so that the flight remains attached to that activity.

## Book a flight

1. Open Dispatch from the VA navigation or from an event, charter, or tour leg.
2. Choose the operation type.
3. Select the airline, if more than one active membership is available.
4. Choose an eligible route or confirm the route supplied by the activity.
5. Select an aircraft that is available, serviceable, positioned correctly, and permitted for the operation.
6. Review the passenger or cargo payload and the quoted figures.
7. Choose a flight number suffix when required.
8. Select **Book**.
9. Open My Flights to review the new operation.

The quote can include passengers, cargo, payload weights, fuel, zero-fuel weight, and takeoff weight. Review the final booking summary before leaving Dispatch.

## Scheduler and itineraries

For supported operations, the scheduler can create a pattern such as **Random**, **Continuous**, or **Round trip**. You can use an itinerary to plan several legs, subject to the limits shown by the page. Save a preset only after checking that its route and aircraft choices are still valid.

## Important limits

* A start time normally must be within two hours of the current time.
* Future operations can be booked up to 24 hours ahead.
* An overdue operation has a 15-minute tolerance.
* A normal booking supports up to four legs.
* A scheduler request supports 2–20 legs.
* A route may be between 0 and 10,000 NM, and a leg may be between 0 and 15 hours.
* You can keep up to five presets.
* A flight-number suffix is limited to one to four characters.

The quote preview and the final reservation may use different safety limits. Treat the final booking result as authoritative.

## Why booking can be unavailable

Booking requires an active airline membership and the necessary flight capability. It can also be blocked when there is no eligible aircraft, the aircraft is in maintenance or at the wrong airport, the route is outside the airline network, or another active booking conflicts with the operation.

Use **Retry**, **Refresh manifest**, or **Clear filters** when those controls are offered. If a flight was booked successfully but does not appear immediately, open My Flights and reload before trying to book a duplicate.

## How to read the quote

Read [Virtual Airlines Economy and Ticket Pricing](./economy-and-pricing) to understand why a lower price can attract more demand but earn less per customer. Read [From Dispatch to Settlement](./flight-lifecycle) to see how this preview becomes a booked snapshot and then a validated financial result.
